Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union is the parent association of photographic clubs and societies in the North West of England.

AMPHOT is the overall site for most UK photographic societies and clubs.

Royal Photographic Society is the official site of the Royal Photographic Society.

RPS Digital Imaging Group has lots of links to interesting images.

British Photographic Exhibitions Crown Awards and Distinctions informs photographers about the 13 exhibitions that are part of the BPE circuit and the dates when they occur.

Wallasey APS provides a list of events (pdf) that may be of interest to members. Any members wishing to contribute to the list should email Wallasey via their Contact page.

B&W.  Converting your color images to black & white can be easily done by selecting the grayscale mode in Photoshop. But the results just don't look as if they were shot on real black & white film... So here is where the DigiDaan Channel Mixtures for Adobe Photoshop come in - its free.

Fred Miranda Actions and filters for PhotoShop. Have a look at this site. It has many actions for PS users including those who use digital cameras. Unfortunately you have to pay fro the filters and action files but they are are not too expensive and secure on-line ordering is available via Pay-Pal.

Black and White Infra-red Film. Short article with links to useful related web sites.

The Infrared Photography Blog. "Digital Infrared Photography has opened up a whole new world of imagery. The peculiarities of infrared photography lie in its ability to record what the eye cannot see. Infrared Photography captures radiation wavelengths just beyond those of the deepest reds of the visible spectrum (700 nm). Infra-red from B&W. Yet another Infra-red resource. How to get IR effects from B&W images.

Lyson archival ink site. You can also download the ICC profiles for all the Lyson ink, paper and printer combinations. See also the Marutt site.

Photoshop Cafe. A free training style web-site on how to use PhotoShop, do web pages and other goodies.

Unsharp Masks (USM) and Photoshop. Try this link. Another technique  is to use the USM in PhotoShop, and then Fade the USM, choosing Luminosity, and fading that by 100%. Again another angle is to Convert the image to Lab and USM the L channel only.

Ansel Adams - a commercial site based in the US. It specialises in Ansel Adam memorabilia and also modern chemical prints from original negatives. Will take orders over the net, lots of images to look at from other photographers as well.

Barrie Thomas. A well known exponent of the art of digital photography.

BJP Online British Journal of Photography web-site with loads of photographic links to photo based resources. Excellent and definitely worth having a look.

Heswall Online. This is a local Wirral web-site containing information about the town of Heswall.

Jessops - a national UK photographic equipment chain store.

Kodak This site is the access to all the Kodak imaging information.

Marrutt - suppliers of Lyson archival inks for inkjet printers. They are one of the main suppliers of Lyson inks and papers in the UK. They are mainly aimed at the professional market but are quite happy to sell to individuals and are quire helpful with queries and reply to emails promptly.

Norman Koren. An interesting American photographic site.

Permajet - make archival inks for inkjet printers. These inks can be purchased from Firstcall

Scanning B&W negs with a flat bed scanner using VueScan which is a free download (1+Meg - about 6 mins) from www.hamrick.com which works with nearly every type of scanner.
